[lac-discuss-en] Congratulations Extended & Some Thoughts on LACRALO Representation

Congratulations to Vanda and Sylvia both of whom we know bring years of
engagement and experience to the global stage from LAC.

We need to start building a farm team. And as we collectively continue to
look forward, I urge all of us to think deeply about how we build the
capacity in LACRALO for our global interactions, for others to come forward
and represent. You only need to refer the conversations happening at the
IANA Coordination Transition WG to see the risks.

I am absolutely sure we need broader and deeper engagements. From a
Caribbean perspective, we have struggled to bring in more voices; the
fellowship recommendations, the attempts to build ALS are just 2 means. But
we labour against certain realities. And we know what we do is hard work.
So while we remain hopeful, we are concerned about the numbers stepping
forward - and the circumstances - for representation.

Some of us are tiring.

Here and now, we must begin to consciously address the diversity question
and the ways we have to make it real. For no disrespect to the hard work of
all volunteers, we are required not only to act but also look to outsiders
that LACRALO is indeed representative.

Kind regards,
-Carlton
