On behalf of Sergio Salinas, LACRALO Chair, we would like to announce that the
2019LACRALO electioncallfornominationsis now openforthe following Leadership
positions. According to theLACRALO Operating principlesthe candidates must be
from the following sub-regions:
Chair- MERCOSUR (SUBREGION D, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay) Chair
Elect â?? CENTRAL AMERICA (SUBREGION A: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador,
Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama) Secretary â?? ANDES (SUBREGION B: Bolivia,
Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela) Secretary Elect- CARIBBEAN
(SUBREGION C: Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica,
Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Saint Vincent and The
Grenadines, St.Lucia, Saint Kitts&Nevis, Suriname & Trinidad
&Tobago) ALAC Member â?? MERCOSUR (SUBREGION D) (ExcludingArgentina) Nomcom

Processfor Nominations:
According to LACRALO Operating Principles, LACRALO members who wish to be
nominated to Leadership positions shall comply with the following requirements:
Confirm that you are a member of an ALS from the country corresponding to
the position to which you are applying. Only organizations that have been
formally accredited to LACRALO can participate in the election as nominators or
nominees to hold positions, â??observerâ?? members of LACRALO are excluded from
being able to vote and be nominated. Complete the form CONFLICT OF INTEREST

a briefstatement explainingExpression of Interest(word or PDF file) explaining
why they believe they are a suitable candidate for the position toAt-Large
staff. All nominees must also complete or update theirStatement of
Interest(see:At-Large New SOIs Workspace). Nominations, including
self-nominationsmust be made directly to the LACRALO mailing list

Terms:
·ALAC:Termsfor the ALAC will run from the end of the 2019 Annual General
Meeting (AGM) to the end of the 2021 AGM.
·RALO Leadership: Terms forthe RALO Leadership are included in LACRALOâ??s
election wiki. All terms will start at the end of the 2019 AGM
·ALAC Delegates to the NomCom:Voting members of the NomCom are appointedfora
one year term, starting at the close of the 2019 AGM and ending at the close of
the 2020 AGM.New Delegatesmay be re-appointedfora further term of one year
subject to the requirement under theICANN Bylaws.Each RALO may make one or more
recommendationsforthe consideration of the ALAC.However, the ALAC will select
the final DelegateThe criteriaforNomCom Delegates are shown at the end of this
message.
CriteriaforNomCom Delegates:
The NomCom is responsibleforselecting members of the ICANN Board, ALAC, ccNSO
and GNSO. This is a very important function and all candidates should meet
important criteria.
Familiarity with the ICANN groups to which the NomCom appoints (Board,
ALAC, GNSO, ccNSO). Ability to judge people (such as when interviewing and
hiring). Comfortable and preferably fluent with English (listening, reading,
speaking). Good on-line skills such as on Google & Social media. Time
Commitment - Must be willing to devote substantial time under tight deadlines
(March-June). Will involve travel to up to 4 meetings. Ability work in a group
environment, standing upfor what you believe in a discussion with other
"strong" people, but at the same time, must be a good listener and be
willing to change your mind if someone else has a good argument. Diplomacy is
important.
Selection Schedulefor the positions:
LACRALO Selection Timetable:
·18 June 2019- Announcement of call for nominations and Nominee's Statement.
·18 June â?? 27 June 2019 - Nomination period (nominationsaccepted for 9
working days).
·5 July 2019 - Deadline for nomination acceptances
·8 July - 10 July 2019 - Calls with the candidates if desired by LACRALO.
·11 July - 18 July 2019 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no
later than one week after the deadline for nomination acceptances and end no
later than two weeks after that deadline).
·2019 AGM [ ICANN 66 ] - Newly elected ALAC Members, RALOs Leaders and the
ALAC Delegate to the NomCom representing the Latin American and Caribbean
Region shall be seated at the end of the2019 AGM following the close of the
Board Meeting on 7 November 2019.
