Thank you for reminding me and everyone else that the decision should be first made on the basis of the merit of the benefits that the service would provide.
Please be assured that the staff's evaluation of such requests is made with the primary bias of satisfying needs as much as possible, which I assumed would happen for this one as well.
My role is to ensure that, in addition, the costs of the services provided are considered in making the decision, as Barack has indicated in his separate email.
In any case, Christina has separately explained that this service can not be provided with this little notice, as interpreters and booths would have needed to be hired and booked weeks ago for interpretation to occur during Friday's meeting.

It would be very convenient to take into account not only the cost of implementation to make the decision.
A very important point is that this is one of the diversities that ICANN must protect and promote.
Of all the diversities, it is one of the most contributes to the active participation. It provides a rich diversity of opinions, significantly expanding the contribution of geographic spectrum, idiosyncracy, social values, and even gender.
It should be considered an investment, not a cost.

We need to understand the cost impact of this request, as one of the elements required to review this request. We will share the costs estimate with the group, so that everyone has the same information. So that we can produce a cost estimate, could you help by providing an estimate of the number of calls, duration and number of participants estimated? Thank you in advance.

As this is not an expense type that is directly under the budget ownership of the co-chairs, Staff will have to make the decision on this request, but will definitely seek input from the CCWG members and co-chairs, before finalizing, and the discussion scheduled below during the plenary meeting will be very helpful to do so.

I am sending here the request for the plenary scheduled in Friday 10th March to have language interpretation service for the ws2 diversity subgroup confcalls from english to spanish and french, and vice versa, by a demand from subgroup members.
