Hello all,

Following the email below to the APRALO list, I would to invite suggestions
from you all particularly on the following items:

   - With respect to UA and IDNs, what are *specific opportunities for
   participation and action items for the same*
   -
   - *Concrete ideas* for simplifying engagement, allowing for ease of
   understanding, and increasing discussion opportunities in APF

These are mutually exclusive endeavors.

I will also be following up on progress on for the APRALO Hot Topics Survey
(HTS) 2022 project separately, soon.

Thanks in advance,
Justine

Dear all,

Yesterday at the March 2022 APRALO Monthly Teleconference
<https://community.icann.org/x/_QB1Cw>, I reported on the *APRALO Policy
Forum (APF) Survey #2.2021 Results and Guide for 2022
<https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/2022-02-17+APRALO+Monthly+Teleconference?preview=%2F186778677%2F186780771%2FAPRALO+PF+Survey+2.2021+Report+%26+2022+Guide.pdf>*
.

The reason for the output being crafted as guidance instead of clear
recommendations was because the participation in the survey was very low
despite it being open for an extended amount of time over Dec 2021 to mid
Jan 2022.

In any case, expressions of support were received at the said monthly
teleconference and on that basis, we would like to proceed with the rough
plan we have for the APF for this year, which is *summarized* as follows:

*1. Maintain Selective Focus*

   - *Concentrate on UA and IDNs* - establish specific opportunities for
   participation and identify action items
   - Monitor developments on New gTLD Program – SubPro ODP
   - Monitor developments for end-user action against DNS abuse
   - Limit to issues within ICANN remit impacting end-users

*2. Vary Modus Operandi*

   - Find new ways to simplify engagement, allow for ease of understanding,
   increase discussion opportunities
   - Support and avoid duplicating CPWG efforts
   - Conduct periodic review on effectiveness of modus operandi

*3. Continue with existing initiatives*

   - APRALO Mentoring Program
   <https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/APRALO+Mentoring+Program>
   (an APRALO initiative beyond APF)
   - APRALO Register of Skills & Interests (Project RoSI)
   <https://community.icann.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=163840608>
   - APRALO Hot Topics Survey (HTS) 2022
   <https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/APRALO+Hot+Topics+2021-2022>

On a final note, if the above list excites you enough to want to join the
APF to help further develop the plan and to implement it, please *do not
'reply all'* but instead, please *email At-Large Staff
<staff at atlarge.icann.org <staff at atlarge.icann.org>> only* to express your
interest. Existing APF members
<https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/APRALO+Policy+Forum#APRALOPolicyForum-Members>
need
not contact staff unless you wish to drop out of the APF.

Thank you and kind regards,

Satish and Justine
