Dear APRALO colleagues,

Following yesterday's APRALO May 2022 call
<https://community.icann.org/x/zgfCCw>, we wanted to let you all know that
the APRALO Policy Forum (APF) had a planning meeting on 13 May 2022
<https://community.icann.org/x/HwbCCw> where a series of new initiatives
were mooted and agreed to be pursued.

These initiatives were developed with reference to the RALO-endorsed APF
Survey #2.2021 Result and Guide
<https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/2022-02-17+APRALO+Monthly+Teleconference?preview=%2F186778677%2F186780771%2FAPRALO+PF+Survey+2.2021+Report+%26+2022+Guide.pdf>
which had proposed for us to concentrate on the areas of *Universal
Acceptance (UA) *and *Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs)* by
establishing specific opportunities for participation and identifying
action items to take forward. Specifically noted also was the need to find
new ways to simplify engagement, allow for ease of understanding, increase
discussion opportunities, in support (and avoidance of duplication) of
At-Large-wide efforts undertaken within the At-Large Consolidated Policy
Working Group (CPWG).

In brief, the new initiatives will be developed further, under several
categories of activities, with more details to be released (or reported on)
progressively. They are:

   1. APF Universal Acceptance - Partnership Events Program, led by Satish
   Babu
   2. APF Fireside Chats Program, led by Justine Chew
   3. A Public Session on UA at ICANN75, to be coordinated by Satish Babu
   4. A Public Session on IDNs at ICANN75, the feasibility of which is to
be looked into by Justine Chew and subject to available outputs of the
At-Large End User Survey on IDNs (which is being steered by an At-Large
   team outside the APF)

The new initiatives will complement ongoing projects by APF, namely the
Register of Skills & Interests (Project RoSI) and the Hot Topics Survey
2022 Project. Another ongoing initiative, although not under the APF
banner, is of course, the APRALO Mentoring Program.

Please contact At-Large Staff if you aren't already a member of the APRALO
Policy Forum
<https://community.icann.org/display/APRALO/APRALO+Policy+Forum> and wish
to join, or if you would like to participate in the development of any of
these new initiatives.

At this point, we are pleased to inform that we are moving to launch the
APRALO Policy Forum Fireside Chats Program very soon with the *inaugural
chat "Let's Talk about GNSO PDP 3.0"*. Please do look out for a separate
announcement and invitation to speak informally with our identified
guest, *Cheryl
Langdon-Orr*, then.

Kind regards,

Satish Babu and Justine Chew
