Dear All,

Here is the summary of our call today:

1. It was generally agreed that we will have initial drafts of issues and definitions documents as per the original schedule

a. Issues document first draft – 10th August – to be circulated by Sarmad

b. Definitions document first draft – 25th August – to be circulated by Manal

c. Pre-F2F drafts for Issues and Definition documents – by 10th September

d. Final documents 30th Sept.

2. Face-to-Face meeting is tentatively planned from 13-15 Sept. (for 2.5 days; half day on 15th Sept). ICTQatar and ICANN to confirm these dates (for logistic support and for availability of external experts, including Andrew and Francisco, at least, at this time)

3. Structure of Issues document is to be finalized. There was no consensus on either Option1 or Option2 and thus an hybrid Option3 will be circulated for further feedback (by Sarmad and Iftikhar).

4. Additional items which need to be discussed for the final document:

a. End User issues – including issues by administrators of mail and web servers, etc.

b. Language table structure – if not already addressed completely

c. Gap analysis with Issues document circulated by VIP team earlier (we need volunteers for this; please let us know)

All those who could not attend, kindly let us know if you have any issues with the dates of the F2F meeting?

Next call on Tuesday at 11:00 UTC next week.

Tentative agenda of next call: finish the discussion on UDRP. Finalize any open logistic matters. Any other items.

Regards,
Sarmad

Dear All,

1. Thanks Manal for updating and circulating the document on dispute resolution. As rightly raised by Dr. Al-Zoman, and clarified by Francisco, there is relevance of this discussion for the gTLD program (at TLD level as well). It is suggested that we continue the discussion as it is bringing out some important issues, and then in our final write-up revisit the relevant section(s) of the guidebook to filter out any points we think may be irrelevant.

2. As discussed in the previous call, and for the information of those who were not able to attend, we will be discussion two administrative matters at the beginning of the call, and then continue our discussion on the Dispute Resolution process. The two items are:

a. Overall plan of work for the rest of the duration of the project. Though we are having very good discussions, it will be useful to review the earlier timeline, as discussed in Singapore, and see if we still want to proceed accordingly. In addition, we would also want to see what tasks need to be undertaken to meet our goals. Here are possible deliverables for the discussion.

                                                               i. First draft of issues document

ii. Pre-F2F revised draft of issues document

iii. Post-F2F final draft of issues document

iv. First draft of definitions document

                                                             v. Pre-F2F revised draft of definitions document

vi. Post-F2F final draft of definitions document

vii. Release of Issues and Definitions (addendum) documents for Arabic script case

b. We need to plan our face to face meeting at ICTQatar. We need to plan and finalize the dates now so that all of us have time to schedule these trips and to allow our kind hosts enough time to prepare and assist in visa processes, and logistics, etc.

3. There has been a request to review the meeting time and move it a few hours later. Though we have had good and regular attendance in our calls by many, it is perhaps a good idea to review the current time (as we have already met on this for at least a month). Baher is requested to circulate a doodle poll for current and one or two slots for a later time on Tuesdays (so as not to open things too much). Unless, otherwise specified, we will continue to have our calls at the same time on Tuesdays.

4. Baher is also requested to let us know if there is any group or public discussion on these documents during the Senegal meeting (similar to the meetings in Singapore)? Also, will these documents be put up for public comments? If yes, are there any concrete plans for collective VIP project or should Arabic script team discuss and suggest their own separate plans?
