Dear Arabic Script team members:

Thank you again for offering your time and expertise to volunteer on the
Arabic script case study team. Following the submission of your statements
of interest and resumes, we have now formed each of six the case study

some logistic support information and important reminders.

Case Study Support For the Arabic Team

Baher Esmat - Case study support staff

ICANN provides each team with a case study support staff. His role is to
help the team and support the case study coordinator. The case study support
staff’s responsibilities include:

1. Work with the Case Study Coordinator to coordinate weekly or bi-weekly
meetings of the case study team
2. Be fully engaged in the discussions and have in-depth knowledge in the
case
3. Take notes for the meeting, verify notes and action items with
Coordinator and distribute minutes to the rest of the team
4. Ensure that subject matter experts are engaged in the team's
discussion and are providing input where needed
5. Investigate any open issues or questions raised by team members after
each meeting
6. Liaise with the community to ensure there is awareness of progress on
the case study
7. Stay aware of the final goal of the team (help produce a final report)
and take the lead along with the case study coordinator to produce the
report
8. May need to help facilitate and attend a regional meeting where the
team is gathering to ensure progress on case study

Logistic Support:

ICANN provides facilities for teleconference and remote participation, as
well as mailing list and wiki management.

Mailing lists:

Similar to communications in IETF, ICANN will maintain two mailing lists:

*	A closed mailing (this one), for your team’s use only. Please note
that even though this mailing list will only accept postings from team
members, the archives will be openly available to anyone to read for
transparency. Web page for this mailing list is available here:
*	An open mailing list, vip at icann.org, that is open to any interested
community members. Case study members from all the cases are also already
subscribed to the list. Webpage for this mailing list is available here:

Remote Participation: Here is the URL
(http://icann.adobeconnect.com/arabic-vip/) that will give you access to the
Arabic Script Adobe Connect remote participation room for the Saturday, 18
June 2011, all-day work sessions in Singapore and on-going meetings, when
needed.

Teleconference Support: ICANN will provide teleconference support for all
the meetings. Detailed Information will be shared soon.

Wikispace: An ICANN Community wiki workspace for the IDN Variant TLDs Issues
Project (https://community.icann.org/display/VIP) has been created. We
encourage the team to use this tool to collaborate. If you do not have an
account, please send an email to: community-help at icann.org.

What’s next?

First Call: I conferred with Sarmad about having a call with the team next
week before 18-June meeting in Singapore, and Sarmad thought that would
helpful. I can send a Doodle request separately to agree on date/time.

Singapore Meeting: There will be an all-day working session for the variant
cases on Saturday June 18, that includes both plenary and break out
sessions. Details will be sent out prior to the meeting.

Important Reminders:

If you have not already registered and you intend to participate, please go
to the ICANN Singapore Meeting site (http://singapore41.icann.org/) and
register; this will make your check-in easier once you arrive.

There is a lot of information here so please feel free to contact me at
baher.esmat at icann.org should you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Baher Esmat
On behalf of ICANN IDN Variant TLDs Project
