[atrt2] [GAC] Durban Planning and Preparation

Hi Fiona,

The schedule currently available on the wiki (https://community.icann.org/display/ATRT2/Durban+-+12+July-18+July+2013) is a draft and will be populated with the ATRT 2's sessions. Meeting requests were sent to the groups earlier this week on behalf of the ATRT2 Chair and Vice-Chairs. Appointments will be inserted into the schedule as soon as they are confirmed.
The session with the ICANN Community was moved to Wednesday, following a discussion with Brian, Avri, Lise and Alan, in order to enable the Review Team to share and/or exchanges views with the ICANN community on feedback that was submitted earlier in the week during sessions with the various groups. We have requested the main meeting room for this session.

Hi Alice

At one point, the interaction with the ICANN community was on Monday July 15th not Wednesday July 17th.  Is there a reason for the change?  Also, I assume the ATRT2 will be meeting with each stakeholder group (that’s interested) one-on-one, similar to ATRT1.  The At Large session is scheduled but the others aren’t.  Do review team members need to do something to make this happen, assuming it’s what the collective group is interested in doing.

Many thanks, Jeannie, for confirming the dates. There has been some speculation about a possible two-day Board-GAC meeting specifically on implementation and clarification of the new GTLDs advice, to be held before the start of the GAC meeting, i.e. 11-12 July.  So we can now take it that that speculation is not sourced on Board thinking and we can therefore disregard it and book our travel to arrive in time for Saturday 13th.

Dear GAC,

As we are getting closer to the GAC meetings in Durban, South Africa please note the following information to assist in your planning.

The GAC will start meeting at 14:00 on Saturday 13 July. There is a possibility that a capacity building session for interested GAC members may take place on 13 July at 10:30 before the regular GAC meetings being that afternoon.

The GAC will meet on its regular schedule, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday,  Wednesday and the morning of Thursday in Durban. On Thursday morning the GAC will have a briefing from Architelos regarding the Domain name market. This session was tentatively scheduled for Beijing, and was postponed  in order for the GAC to complete its work on GAC Safeguard Advice.  There will be an opportunity for the GAC to compile questions for Architelos and comments on the agenda items and topics to be covered during this briefing.

Setting the GAC Agenda

A draft agenda will be circulated to the GAC ahead of the agenda-setting calls that will take place at the times below.  Once the availability of interpretation has been scheduled and confirmed, dial information for the interpretation will be circulated. These calls will also be recorded and transcribed and recordings and transcriptions will be posted to the GAC website.
