Hi Maureen,

If I had my way, I would have wanted all the Online Group members on the informal call. Please note that an informal call is different from a formal ICANN meeting. As mentioned earlier, there will be lots of opportunity for the At Large community to talk to Nora. The Durban meetings will be open to remote participation so you will have your opportunity to talk to her and ask questions remotely. Besides, Nora is staff so we always will have the opportunity for scheduling a call with the WG at later stage.

For now, I would recommend that the wiki be used to tease out useful considerations for the online developments etc.

Your apology is noted.

Kind Regards,
Sala

The administrators can unplug all the speakers so no one can butt in… there are ways and means.. but surely an “informal” gathering does not mean that people have to be excluded – and for what good reason? It is extremely rare that an ICANN meeting is closed to observers.. this is so un-ICANN.

It is not a large group of people we are talking about here. Some of us are going to Durban and some of us aren’t. I’m one of the NOTs. But it would be nice for all of us to hear the same message before the Durban meeting. And its all about capacity building at all levels of ICANN.. surely.

Nora will be presenting numerous times to the At Large Team as well as other constituencies, so we will all get to meet and talk to her.

Whomever you select from amongst you to attend this call, should be sure that they will attend this informal call and report back to the Group both on the wiki and the mailing list.

I will not be attending the Durban meeting so I won’t have another chance to hear her personally and to ask her any questions directly before Durban – and I’d like to hear what Nora’s role is and what she is planning.

If any of the group are going to Durban, then they can take any queries from the rest of the team along with them, and then feed back to us.. It would be good to be able to work WITH Nora on this.. because we are at a bit of a stand-still at the moment.
