[Comments-biz-renewal-03apr19] Strengthen or at least maintain .biz price caps

Dear ICANN,
The removal of the price cap provisions on the .biz gTLD is an egregious error. The only reasoning given is that it allows the Registry Operators to make more money, treating them equitably with newer gTLDs. Given that operating costs for gTLDs have gone down over time, and that there is nothing restricting an entity registering .org domains from also registering new gTLDs, this makes no sense. If anything the 10% per year price increase should be removed, and a permanent cap set, or one tied to global inflation. 10% is more than enough. The only people who will benefit are stakeholders in companies, while the people who actually create the internet that ICANN is a steward of will be hurt. It is a breach of trust and a failure of duty to do so. It also makes one wonder who ICANN is truly trying to help, and weakens the position that they should ever have been given control. At least the U.S., for all they’re capitalist whoring, didn’t open up owners and potential owners of .biz domains to corporate abuse.
