Stability of the most-used TLD, .com, is important for the stability of the
internet as a whole. Allowing Verisign to increase .com prices up to 70%
over the next 10 years will negatively affect domain registrants like me,
and for what benefit? More corporate profit? When a 20 million dollar
payment includes no clear plan for the use of the funds and no oversight,
it sounds less like a payment and more like a bribe. Provide a clear and
specific explanation for this money and how this contract change with
Verisign is beneficial to the internet and its users. How does giving the
most powerful TLD operator more control, now as a registrar, ensure
stability and promote competition? This change seems to directly conflict
with ICANN's mission.
