This deal behind the closed doors to increase cost of .com domains is
simply outrageous.

There is certainly no issues with current infrastructure and there is no
observable performance effect technically with the speed of websites.
Ambiguous 20M$ over 5 years is just another form of bribery being reflected
to end-users in my eyes.

ICANN's main goal should be democratizing internet access which is already
fully commercialized to the extent of having many domains parked without an
ability to use them due to fees. Rather than increasing cost of domains
making it harder for startups a better solution is to simply remove ability
to renew domains after 5 years of non-usage which would help public for a
better internet experience.
