To the decision makers, 

With great power comes great responsibility. Because you are in a position of immense control, I urge you to broaden the sources of information behind any decision about price increases and to be forthcoming and transparent about the new millions will be spent. 

There are at least two stories for you to consider: The little turtle named Mack in Yertle the Turtle, by Dr. Seuss; the king of Israel, Rehoboam, who increased taxes, heeding his young counsellors, rejecting the sage advice of the older men. (This account is in the Bible, in 1 Kings 12.)
