Regarding Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement


My opposition to this amendment is pretty simple. I manage several domains
and it is a constant challenge to keep clients from clicking on fake,
overpriced, domain registration emails taking advantage of their ignorance
about how things work. The high price has been the biggest reveal. Climbing
prices for the real thing only contributes to an internet environment
riddled with suspicion & distrust. It has been restorative to deal with real
businesses offering the real fees; but the worst thing about no cap on
raising the fees is how it will exclude many legitimate small businesses,
already strapped by a variety of monthly fees, from participating in the
web.
