I don’t believe it is in the interest of the ICANN community or internet users, that Verisign will be allowed to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains every year for 8 out of the next 10 years. .com domains are the most popular and widespread domains. The expense to .com domain holders will increase significantly and cause a cascade of other price increases making .COM domains less accessible and more expensive for everybody. It is unclear who will in the end benefit from the increased revenue and the payout to ICANN of 20 million. It is unclear how these changes are going to benefit the infrastructure as a whole or the future of the internet. These changes could have a negative impact and unless the benefits are justifiable and made clear to the public, I oppose them.
