[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Need more transparency and competition

I am very concerned that the recent decisions to relax price controls will harm the general Internet more than help. Though I don't believe that price controls in general are beneficial, in a situation where there is a monopolistic ownership, such as the .COM domain, then they are necessary. In order to ease these controls there needs to be a method for competition of selling these names, which currently does not exist since Verisign has full control.

Until such time as true competition can exist in .COM domain name sales, or top-level domains become less exclusive and costly, then continuing to control the pricing is necessary so that consumers are not taken advantage of by a monopolistic controller.

Sincerely,
