At this current moment, the .com domains are just accessible enough to
anyone who has is trying to get a business off the ground, or is running a
free service online. An increase in price will make these things a lot less
accessible to the general public.

.com domains are at this moment, the domain the most respected online. I
can start a .com service and it'll be recognized as the official version of
the service. Most other TLDs do not have this luxury.

The web should remain accessible, and domains like .com should not be
restricted only to those who happen to already have a lot of money- rather
also those who are trying to get something new off the ground.
