To Whom It May Concern - I have no problems with slowly increasing prices to support new initiatives.

But you occupy a position of power that should reflect transparency in the decision making process - that will ultimately affect millions of domain users.  Stop this process as of right now, and start over with full transparency as to the process, discussions and goals.
