[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] OPPOSED to the proposed Amendment 3

I am submitting this comment to OPPOSE the proposed Amendment 3.

The domain name registration system should be run in the interest of public
good.  The only beneficiary of Amendment 3 is Verisign.  Verisign will
maintain a monopoly hold on .com names and will be able to drive the prices
of .com names up by 70% over the next 10 years just because it wants to
make a money grab.  Verisign already reports $300 million in revenue and
$198 million in operating income last quarter.  Clearly these price hikes
are NOT necessary and will only serve to enrich this private sector company
at the expense of everyone with a .com domain for their web sites.

The internet was envisioned to be run for the public good.  Deals such as
this are an abdication of that mandate and are simply catering to private
sector greed.  Please do not adopt this ammendment.
