Unless Verisign is making significant advancements to the management of
TLDs that benefit all of their registrars, I see no justification for a
price increase. If Verisign is contributing to ICANN, the allowed price
increase should be proportional to the amount contributed. It seems
reasonable that Verisign would be allowed to increase the registration fee
$2 and contribute $1 of that to ICANN, but the figures provided are much
less beneficial to the community. Even so, that $2 for registrars would
translate to at least $4 for consumers, making it harder for independent
content creators.
