Sir,

As a .com domain holder, please registrar my objection to this proposed
change, which while providing Verisign with a monopoly to provide .com
licenses allows them also to increase prices without reference to the
underlying cost of providing the service.  This goes very much against the
spirit of the anti-combines act, which recognized that monopolies needed to
be regulated to prevent them from garnering excess profits to  the
detriments of consumers.

The counter-part payment to ICANN is a small fraction of the additional
profits that the firm will be able to earn by raising prices according to
the permitted schedule.
