[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] We need more competition for .com domains

I am hearing that verisign has a somewhat of a lock on .com domains as a wholesaler and will be raising prices significantly over the next decade.

It seems no matter what registrar I go to I am still stuck with the native wholesale pricing.

Once we lock into a domain name we are somewhat stuck as we develop significant internet weights. Specifically as a consumer we can have hundreds of logins that use emails as a login value let alone an email address. In addition many many vendors use these emails as a two factor validation method. This makes it very difficult to leave your domain to another domain such as .info.

We need competition to keep prices in check at the wholesale level if not we need to set reasonable price controls.
