I believe this issue for .com price increases will be another unjustified means for taking advantage of many who already pay an exuberant amount for domains and maintaining them as such. 

I for one am sick of being taxed to death and paying endless fees for nearly everything owned or purchased in this day and age. Raising fees will surely dictate future decisions for the amount of .com ownerships.

Stop taking advantage of the common people!
