In a time of falling cloud compute price, and long term low inflation, I, a
person with a degree in economics, see no reason to allow a monopoly to
have an above inflation and cost of goods sold increase in price.

You're supposed to serve the public. Do your job and deny Verisign's
request for a price increase.
