I am a website developer and register domains on behalf of many of my clients. The only party this will benefit is Verisign, and the (no doubt) constant increase is significantly higher than the $3 cost to register a domain. This sort of addition to the cost to access a .com domain only affects the smaller clients, and will no doubt he inflated by other companies “to cover their costs.l

This is a terrible idea, and “the little guys” out there will pay for it, with no benefit to anyone but Verisign.
