[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement

I strongly oppose this amendment.

 

Giving the benefit of doubt that perhaps there are some good intentions
within it, granting VeriSign the ability to increase the wholesale price of
.COM domains by 7% annually is ridiculous.  After the first increases, the
price would be 31% higher than today.  Then, presumably after a two year
hiatus, another series of 7% increase could be piled on top.  Rinse and
repeat.

 

ICANN and VeriSign are supposed to be working for the public good, but this
type of monopolistic pricing will result in less Internet availability for
individuals and companies.  This is definitely not in the public interest.
