This does nothing “to preserve and enhance the security and stability of the Internet or the .COM top-level domain.” Nothing.

This is a money grab, plain and simple, against the spirit of the creation of the internet, that will negatively affect people around the world.

This amendment is probably due to the fact that people and companies are moving away from equally pointless certificate authorities and those companies are losing money because of it, as they should, because there has never been a good reason for them either.
