I'm not saying it out of an obvious desire to merely save money but
internet, as we know it is free medium and the price increase means fewer
.com registrations per year and this especially impacts people in
developing countries where the currency value is really low and the need
for information technology and a "free medium" for spread of information is
high (free from government interference).

The price increase is surely likely to impact and "disempower" certain
groups and should be carefully considered unless absolutely necessary.
