<body><div>What is the reason for the proposed price increases for .COM registrations?</div><div><br /></div><div>Given that Internet domain names are utilities it is not appropriate for profit to be the sole motivation. If there are legitimate costs that are not presently covered by existing registration pricing structure then such should be disclosed to the community and handled appropriately. Companies are welcome to charge market rates for commodity services - but as trustees of public utilities ICANN and any affiliates have a moral obligation to avoid burdens on the basic services of the Internet.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you.</div>
