[Comments-org-renewal-18mar19] Proposed Renewal of .org Registry Agreement

I am and have been a .org registrant since 1999.

Legacy gTLDs like .org are fundamentally different from ever burgeoning
list of for-profit new gTLDs. Legacy TLDs should be considered a public
trust, unlike the new gTLDs which were created, bought and paid for by
private interests.

Registrants of legacy TLDs are entitled to price stability and
predictability and should not be subject to possible uncapped price
increases while receiving no benefit whatsoever in return.

Any renewal of the .org registry agreement must have a clause
restricting fee increases to the current maximum of 10% and preferably
to a smaller percentage given the current world economic circumstances.

ICANN appears to be currying favour with registries by removing price
controls at the expense of the public interest and registrants.
