[Comments-org-renewal-18mar19] Renegotiation of .org registry contract without price caps

Dear ICANN:

ICANN used to be an administrator of a common good; ICANN's task was to keep the wheels turning.

Since PIR is not going broke, the current pricing schedule, never mind the current way-more-than-inflation price increases, seem to be entirely sufficient to do so.

Why, then, treat what was regarded as the property of all (way back when) like something that PIR conceived, invented, and labored to bring forth? Is there any reason why PIR needs to be rewarded for something beyond running a database?

I submit to you that there is not. And frankly, you as ICANN should be wondering who PIR's friends within your organization are and whether they suddenly enjoy new cars and luxury holidays.

Yours faithfully,

Felix Kasza
