I writing to express my strong opposition to the provision in the proposed .org renewal that would permit unlimited price increases for .org domains. I believe this runs counter to the public interest.

Although anyone can purchase a .org address, the TLD originally was intended to serve non-profit organizations. As a result, tens of thousands of non-profits across the country use .org in their domain name.

While large nonprofits such as the Red Cross or United Way can easily tolerate large price increases, small nonprofits cannot. There are a large number of small nonprofits for which significant price increases would put at risk their ability to carry out their important mission.

I urge you strongly to reconsider this proposal and to keep the 10% annual increase cap on the price of .org domain names.
