Hi,
I do not believe that it is in the best interests of non-profit
organisations to remove price controls on the .org registrar without
offering the contract to a public tender including other domain
registrars at the same time. The social contract that ISOC/PIR were
given a very long time ago (in terms of the lifetime of the internet)
relied on them not being able to abuse their monopoly power to change
excessive prices. Guaranteeing that they do not have any competition
and at the same time that they have a guaranteed monopoly.
Please offer the contract to a public tender to get a modern valuation
of the .org registrar and ensure that non-profits are not being price
gouged.
Thanks,
Peter Ansell
