Comments on Proposed Renewal of .org Registry Agreement

I don’t see what benefit removing the 10% cap on annual prices increases charged to owners of .ORG domains provides. 10% is a generous allowance. Unlike the newer GTLDs .org domains have been around for decades and many owners have established businesses around their domain leaving them with difficult choices should the prices rises become unaffordable.

The registrar will have a monopoly over these customers and should not be allowed to exploit it. 10% is a generous allowance that allows them to make a substantial profit and accommodate reasonable increases in the cost of doing business year-on-year.

Customers of the newer GLTDs are aware that they may be subject arbitrary annual prices increases since the inception of these domains and can make provisions for this.

Yours sincerely,

Ben Lamb.
