I think that Wendy is now on MST (two hours earlier than EST).

For me, option 1 is about the worst possible with 
a 3 am start to the meeting. An hour or two 
earlier is fine, and somewhat later simply means 
an early start to the morning, but 3 am is pretty 
much in the middle of night no matter what your 
sleep schedule. But maybe that's just me...

The largest gap between any two groups is 5 hours 
between Australian east cost and US west coast. 
Did you try centering the night around that slot?
