As noted some time ago, it would have been much better if SGs have notified earlier, e.g. after constituency day. That way the ET would have known for sure which four were going to the allocated slots and didn't need to be considered, so it could concentrate on those standing for the elected slots. Accordingly, I announced NCSG's endorsements at the 10 March open council session in Nairobi: Willie Currie (South Africa) for the allocated slot, Hakikur Rahman (Bangladesh) for the open slot. We didn't concern ourselves with formally endorsing someone for the unaffiliated slot—again, endorsing and voting are separate issues, the former of which is merely a preference indicator---but suspect there will be votes for Elaine.

In any event, absent formal word on other SG endorsements, the ET proceeded based on what we'd been told informally, and concentrated on those we understood to be standing for election. Caroline will be sending the ET's doc to the council but technically it'd be better to hear first that the assumptions we proceeded on were correct.

Just to make sure we are clear: all the names are known now. They've been on the website since 7 March, in most cases earlier than that. Subtract from them a) Eric, who wants to be considered for the Security and Stability RT later on, b) Willie Currie, and c) your guess or knowledge as to who RgySG, RgrSG, and CSG are endorsing for their allocated slots, and you have the list of people who are standing for election. Note that all but two of these are widely known and/or self-declared to SG affiliated, and you know who's standing for the open and unaffiliated slots. Then decide who's your top preference in each list and/or who you could live with in order to have a balanced list that meets the diversity criteria we agreed et voila.

Cheers,

Bill
