[council] Non-Contracted Parties House Nomination for Chair X

Thanks for the reply Andrei and for the expressions of respect. I am fully aware that everything I do raises suspicions in some people’s minds and have lived with that for years.

I appreciate you referring to me as one of the ‘internet fathers’ but I confess that I am not. My experience and expertise is in the ICANN community and I cannot be credited with anything regarding the Internet except as it relates to ICANN policy efforts.

Chuck

Yes, I believe this matters. Because the world around us is not as friendly as our community and this is not a matter of person’s interests- commercial or non commercial. I’m talking about perception. Like this “Chuck is a great guy, but he works for Verisign” – do you believe that it was never said behind your back? I know that you working in the internet so many years and your reputation is unquestionable. gNSO members also know it. I respect you and I was saying this openly: you are one of the internet fathers. But the politics is unfair. Again, don’t take it personally guys. I learned that there are some themes which are taboo in gNSO. Sorry to violate one of this.

Thanks for the comment Andrei. With all due respect to your second of Olga’s nomination, I have some questions that come from my own personal curiosity: Does it really matter whether the interests of a person are commercial or non-commercial? Does the fact that one person’s interests are commercial and another’s are non-commercial make one’s interests more problematic than the other’s? In my opinion, the key is whether a person is able to perform leadership responsibilities in a neutral and fair manner regardless of their interests.

In my view, both Olga and Stéphane have demonstrated that they can perform leadership responsibilities in a neutral and fair manner.

I completely support this choice and would like to second Olga’s nomination. Don’t know if it is necessary or not, but this comes from my believe that at least for one year Chair must set far from commercial groups.

Best regards,
