Dear Vinciane,

With sincere apologies for the delay, please find below discussion topics suggested by the GNSO Council.
· SSR2 - the Board has stated on various recent occasions that it has 'learned lessons' from its handling of the SSR2-RT pause. What specific lessons have been learned and how will these affect future Board action?
· Goals - The Board has asked the various community groups to identify their most relevant longer-term goals. What are the Board's longer-term goals, in view of budgetary and market trends?
· The road ahead - The GNSO Council devoted time in January to strategic planning for the year ahead. Taking into account a continuously high volume of work and the FY19 budgetary pressures, we see the need for and benefit of prioritisation. Considering the many activities currently underway in ICANN, which do the Board consider to be top priority? What milestones or achievements is the Board hoping to reach by the end of 2018? in the next 5 years? How does this align with the policy development work currently underway in the GNSO?
Best wishes,

Heather Forrest
GNSO Council Chair

Sent on behalf of Cherine Chalaby, Chair, ICANN Board of Directors

Dear Constituency and Stakeholder Groups Chairs,

Questions to the Board - Please reply no later than Monday 12 February 2018

On behalf of the Board, I would like to wish each and every one of you, a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Board is truly looking forward to working with you in 2018. While the year has just started, we are already preparing for ICANN 61 which will take place between 10-15 March 2018.

Building on the improvements made to our face-to-face meetings over the past couple of years, we continue working on our collaboration, openness and transparency and I am therefore sending you herewith, well ahead of time, two questions that the Board would like to submit to your attention for the upcoming face-to-face meetings in Puerto Rico.

  * What are your key goals in 2018? The Board is interested in this question to make sure that its own priorities are aligned with the community’s priorities.
  * What are your most relevant longer-term goals? The Board is interested in this question because discussions about longer-term goals and strategic planning will commence soon between the community, the Board and ICANN org.

In the meantime, we would be very grateful if you could send to Board Operations (board-ops-team at icann.org<mailto:board-ops-team at icann.org>) the questions you would like the Board to address during our face-to-face meetings. Given the finite
time available for these meetings, we would appreciate it very much if you could list your questions in order of priority. We would also appreciate getting your questions no later than Monday 12 February, 2018 or sooner.

We thank you in advance for your time on this matter and we look forward to welcoming you in San Juan!

Best regards,

Cherine Chalaby
Chair, ICANN Board of Directors
