The GNSO is seeking expressions of interest to chair the Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) Work Track, a subteam within an ongoing Policy Development Process (PDP) that will review all trademark-related rights protection mechanisms at the second level of the domain name system.
 
The deadline to submit Expressions of Interest is 30 November 2020, 23:59 UTC.

NEW: Call for Volunteers: Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) Work Track

The GNSO Council is requesting that interested Supporting Organizations (SOs), Advisory Committees (ACs), and GNSO Stakeholder Groups and Constituencies consider appointing members to the Intergovernmental Organization (IGO) Work Track, a group to be formed within an ongoing Policy Development Process (PDP) reviewing all rights protection mechanisms in all gTLDs at the second level of the domain name system.
 
The composition of the IGO Work Track is as follows:
·     The Registries Stakeholder Group: up to 2 Members; ·     The Registrars Stakeholder Group: up to 2 Members; ·     The Commercial Stakeholder Group: up to 3 Members ·     The Non-Commercial Stakeholder Group: up to 3 Members. ·     Each AC, other SOs and IGOs: ·     Up to 2 Members per group.  
Please confirm your group's appointed Members and Alternates at the latest by 7 December 2020 by notifying the GNSO Secretariat at gnso-secs at icann.org.

NEW: ICANN and PTI Publish Audited Financial Statements for FY20 
 
ICANN recently announced [r20.rs6.net] publication of its audited, consolidated financial statements and Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) published its audited financial statements for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2020. 
 
In addition, the ICANN Board has also published the FY20 Annual Report [r20.rs6.net], which contains the FY20 Report on Board Expenses. 
 

 

REMINDER: Future of ICANN Meetings Survey

On Monday, 12 October, ICANN org announced the Future of ICANN Meetings Survey to all Community Chairs. Each SO and AC was sent a unique survey URL to circulate among their respective community members. 
 
As a reminder, the survey will close on Thursday, 5 November. Please contact your community chair or policy-staff at icann.org for further information. 
 

 

REMINDER: Nominations for NextGen Selection Committee and Mentor Positions EXTENDED 
From: Sally Costerton, Senior Advisor to the President and Senior Vice President, Global Stakeholder Engagement 
 
The ICANN org NextGen Program announced [r20.rs6.net] that it is seeking nominations for mentors and for the NextGen selection committee. Communities may choose to appoint program alumni and are encouraged to appoint active community members who have an interest in mentoring students. 
 
There are three slots available for mentors, and five slots for selection committee members. Each SO/AC is asked to nominate candidates for both positions. Individual self-nominations will not be considered. 
 
Interested community groups should select their respective NextGen at ICANN volunteers by Sunday, 15 November 2020 and notify Deborah Escalera at nextgen at icann.org.

REMINDER: Information Transparency Initiative Update: New Content Available for Your Feedback

As ICANN org President and CEO Göran Marby announced in his May 2020 blog [r20.rs6.net], the Information Transparency Initiative (ITI) team is releasing new content to https://preview.icann.org [r20.rs6.net], and content on https://icann.org [r20.rs6.net] has been improved with ITI’s enhanced search features. New and improved content includes: 
·     Correspondence - New findability improvements include keyword(s) search allowing you to narrow your search within Correspondence files, an advanced year selector, a helpful sub-navigation menu, and an improved table layout to enhance accessibility and readability. ·     Board Meeting Materials - We’ve made upgrades to this content type since the May 2020 release. The keyword(s) search has been implemented and improved, and most Board Meeting files and pages from 1998-2019 are now available via filtered or keyword search. ·     Acronyms and Terms - Enhancements to the existing release include alignment with ITI’s new user experience, additional terms added in all six U.N. languages, and a new sub-navigation menu.
