Dear Councilors,

Please note the following, as this relate to our AOB item 7.4. In particular, please give some thought to the two questions that Michael is asking, on the possibility of having alternates and a vicechair.

Thanks.
Regards,
Philippe

Subject: [gnso-chairs] Message from Michael Palage, Registration Data Accuracy Scoping Team

Sending on behalf of Michael Palage, Chair of the Registration Data Accuracy Scoping Team

Dear GNSO Council Leadership,

I wanted to send this communication to the Council leadership to provide a brief update and to seek clarification on some administrative issues.

During ICANN72, the Working Group will meet for the 4th time and will begin our substantive work regarding a work plan. We will endeavor to have an initial work plan to the Council by the end of next week. Berry Cobb has been very mindful of our need to provide this guidance to the Council as soon as possible as part of its important oversight role.

The two administrative issues that I would like to seek clarification on are as follows:

- The Working Group would like to utilize use of alternative members similar to the EPDP Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 2A Working Groups to allow distribution of work load and to prevent volunteer burn out. This has been discussed within the group and we see no prohibition against this in the charter. Therefore, unless there is any objection from the Council we will proceed with the use of alternatives consistent with past practices.

- Similar to other Working Groups I would to utilize a Vice-Chair. This has been discussed within the group and we see no prohibition against this in the charter. Therefore, unless there is any objection from the Council we will proceed internally with the selection of a Vice-Chair. Prior to formal appointment of the Vice-Chair we will inform the Council to obtain their consent/non-objection.

Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me or our ICANN Org colleagues.

Best regards,

Michael
