[council] Registration Data Accuracy Scoping Team Write Up for Assignments #1 and #2

Dear All,

On behalf of Michael Palage, Chair of the Registration Data Accuracy Scoping Team, I am hereby submitting the team’s write up for assignment #1 and #2 to the Council. As per the Council’s instructions, the Scoping Team is putting forward its recommendations related to assignment #2 (measurement of accuracy) for Council consideration. The group expects that data gathered through a registrar survey and a possible registrar audit may help further inform the team’s work on assignment #3 (effectiveness) and #4 (impact & improvements), recognizing that additional proposals to measure accuracy may emerge once ICANN org’s outreach to the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) concludes.

Please note that some groups have indicated that they may be providing the Council with a statement in relation to this write up – such statements should be received and transmitted to Council by 14 September at the latest.

The team is aware that the Council may need some time to digest this write up, the recommendations and any accompanying statements before being able to give its support to proceed as recommended. However, the team would like to take advantage of the meeting at ICANN75 that had already been scheduled a while ago to see if it can informally start discussions on the registrar survey and a possible registrar audit, unless there is Council concern about doing so.

As indicated previously, now that the write-up has been submitted, Michael Palage will be confirming his resignation as Chair of this group to the Council shortly.
