ICYMI, SaveDotOrg - an umbrella protest group organized by EFF and Fight
For The Future - organized a protest against the PIR sale at ICANN
headquarters in Los Angeles. The protest was a vehicle for presenting a
petition demanding that ICANN block the sale, which was accomplished
when members of the ICANN board came out and met with the protesters.
Former novelist Cory Doctorow, a harsh critic, entertained the assembled
throng of no less than nine (9) protesters with a rousing speech.

Here’s the news coverage of the event, with pictures.

Register reporter Kieren McCarthy, a former ICANN employee, sent many
tweets during the festivities. It remains to be seen whether ICANN will
take this outpouring of public sentiment to heart.
