Hi all,

I have taken the initiative to have a plenary session at ICANN71 for “Understanding the Reputation Block Lists”. The session take place on Thursday June 17 2021 08:30 UTC.

Session Details
The data from the Reputation Block Lists (RBLs) are used by Contracted Parties, the Domain Abuse Activity Reporting (DAAR) system, and others in monitoring their namespace. RBLs are an important tool to mitigate Domain Name System (DNS) abuse. The plenary session seeks to explain how RBLs identify suspicious behavior and seeks to dispel confusion through community discussion.

Session Leader: Mary Wong
Staff Facilitator: Ozan Sahin

There will be representatives from the Block List Providers, Contracted parties, ICANN/OCTO etc. The session is scheduled for 90 minutes in two parts:

Introduction (RBL providers interviewed by moderator) 30 minutes

  * Larger conversation about DNS abuse and the role of Contracted Parties in mitigating DNS security threats
  *   Explain role of RBLs
  * Explain how RBLs work (data collection)

Discussion (RBL providers remain available) 60 minutes

  * How does ICANN org use RBLs?
  * What does DAAR tell us about DNS abuse?
  * How do registries and registrars use/not use this?

I have been given the task to find someone representing the end-user at the panel. If possible, a female representative will be chosen.

I would appreciate if someone is willing to attend the panel or have some names to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Steinar Grøtterød
