Josh,

My answers are in-line below. Happy to discuss these or any other aspects
of this matter further.

I have not conducted a comprehensive search, but I am not aware of any
registrations outside the US. I did check the TMView search tool offered
by OHIM (European Community trademark office), which covers the CTM and
many of the country-level registrations, as well as the US. It did not
reveal any other registrations.

ICANN's outside counsel (Jones Day) should have all this information
available in their trademark docketing software, and they should be able to
quickly generate a report for all the IANA-related marks, with all this
information and more (you may want the description of goods & services as
well).

I would expect that the ICANN employee in charge of managing their domain
names should be able to generate a report with all this information. I do
know that ICANN owns iana.com, iana.net and iana.org. iana.org is the
primary domain name. It appears that "IANA" may be "registry reserved"
string in at least some other top level domains.

Here is the WHOIS report for iana.com. I expect iana.net and iana.org to
be similar.

I based this on reviewing the trademark registration for IETF on the USPTO
website, where the trademark is held in the name of the trustees,
specifically as follows:

(REGISTRANT) The Trustees of the IETF TRUST, a Virginia trust, the trustees
comprising Stephen D. Crocker, Lucy Elizabeth Lynch, Lynn M. St. Amour and
Raymond G. Pelletier, Jr., all U.S. citizens, Brian E. Carpenter, a United
Kingdom citizen, Leslie L. Daigle and Edmund B. Juskevicius, both Canadian
citizens, Kurt Erik Lindqvist, a Swedish citizen and Jonne Adam Soininen, a
Finnish citizen TRUST VIRGINIA 1775 WIEHLE AVENUE #102 C/O RAY PELLETIER,
IETF ADMIN DIRECTOR RESTON VIRGINIA 201905108

I also based this on a review of the IETF Founding Documents, which are at
http://trustee.ietf.org/founding-documents.html.
It's worth noting that the IETF Trust is set up as a trust for
IETF-related IPR, and the sole beneficiary is the IETF (or
the IETF's successor with respect to the development of technical standards
for the Internet
.
)

I also reviewed that the IETF "General Trademark License" template on their
website, http://trustee.ietf.org/docs/IETF_General_TM_License.pdf, which
is in the name of the Trust and makes no mention of the Trustees.
(Interestingly, while this trademark license makes reference to usage and
quality control guidelines, which are in a separate document at
http://www.ietf.org/trademarks-guidelines, that document does not appear to
contain what I would deem quality control guidelines (but only contains
usage guidelines).)

Hope this helps,

Greg
