Please note that several new participants have been added to this Discussion Group at the request either of the GAC or the GNSO. They are:

For the benefit of those new to this Discussion Group, you may wish to note that several documents had been circulated previously – these are the proposed Process Framework outlining the set up and scope of the facilitated discussions and initial draft Problem Statements. They have all been posted to the wiki space, at https://community.icann.org/x/hIPRAw. The comments and edits proposed by Donna concerning the draft Red Cross Problem Statement have also been posted to the same page. Further documents – including draft Briefing Documents currently in preparation – will be posted as they are circulated to this group.

Staff will be in contact again shortly to confirm a time and date for the first facilitated discussion on the topic of Red Cross protections, which has been proposed for mid/late February. We will also try to confirm the two proposed slots for discussion on both topics at ICANN58 as soon as we can.

Good afternoon.  I had a constructive dialogue with the ICRC (Charlotte Lindsey Curtet) early this morning.

She was pleased that the facilitated discussions are moving ahead and that their issues (the protection of National ICRC /Red Cross Society Names) may well be on a separate track from the wider IGO protection issue (they only have five acronyms).

She noted that Mark Carvell has kindly submitted her name and that of her colleague (Stephane Hawkins) to join the discussion list.

Charlotte intends to come to Copenhagen for relevant disucssions there though hopes there will be a dialogue before that.
