Dear Amr ..

I personally don't mind having a GAC-GNSO CG Wiki, particularly with
information sharing, progress updating and transparency in mind ..

So if you mean that we need to have it as a viewer-friendly public
archive, I don't think anyone would mind .. but if you are proposing it
as a collaborative platform for content editing by group members, this
is what I was challenging, out of my experience with the GAC ..

I stand to be corrected if my above interpretations are not accurate ..
But again, to be clear, I'm not against having a Wiki page in principle,
and very much welcome the initiative !!

Looking forward to hearing what others think ..

Kind Regards

--Manal

Subject: [Gac-gnso-cg] GAC-GNSO CG Wiki

Hi All,

I was hoping we could revisit a recommendation I made during the first
couple of meetings we had, and that was to have a wiki space for our
group. With the increasing number of documents this Consultation Group
(CG) is drafting, I believe it would be helpful to have them all
available in one location for easy access. For example, the four
documents and one PPT circulated by Manal regarding tomorrow's meeting
in addition to this group's draft charter. It's a lot easier to use than
rummaging through an inbox or folder looking for the latest draft of a
specific document.

There is an added benefit to having a personal wiki space for this CG,
and that is the ability to share our work with our respective community
members, and keep them updated on the progress that we make.

Using a wiki page doesn't pose a technical difficulty (incase that is a
concern). In my (limited) experience, ICANN staff have done most of the
heavy lifting when it comes to keeping them updated. They pretty much
arrange the different pages on a wiki and post stuff according to the
group's requests to do so.

Check this wiki page for the Translation and Transliteration of Contact
Information PDP
<https://community.icann.org/display/tatcipdp/Translation+and+Transliter
ation+of+Contact+Information+PDP+Home> as an example. It's a
relatively new PDP WG, so the page hasn't been loaded with lots of
stuff, but it should give you all an idea on how it works.

As you can see, there is a menu on the left side of the page with links
to useful stuff like the PDP WG's charter, the members list, relevant
studies to the PDP/background documents as well as a link to proposed
questions the WG will be tackling in the near future, with each question
having its respective dedicated wiki page with updates on progress.

I imagine that having a wiki for this group would help our GAC members
share updates with the rest of the GAC, and a question on this has
already been brought up during the last GNSO Council meeting. I figure
that since this mailing list is already a publicly archived one, it
wouldn't hurt to have a space where our work is accessible in a more
viewer-friendly manner.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Amr
