Dear all,

Please see below ALAC Team’s input for the draft outcome language of A7 (Part 1), A9, and A10.

Best Regards,
Ariel

===

A7 (Part 1)
What mechanism or criteria should be used to identify the scripts/languages appropriate for single-character TLDs?

The ALAC team agrees with the draft language that (a) Single-character TLDs should be allowed only for ideographic script/language combinations; (b) that currently it's the Chinese language, the Kanji portion of the Japanese language, and the Hanja portion of the Korean language which all use the Han script are appropriate for single-character gTLD; and (c) to seek inputs from the respective Generation Panels regarding developing the criteria for identifying allowable characters for single-character TLDs in the Han script.

A9: Label States
The WG and the SubPro IRT to coordinate and develop a consistent definition of variant label status in the IDL set.

The ALAC Team agrees to accept the current label states and proceed, and to revisit this topic if any additional states are discovered. Further, the ALAC team also agrees that there should be consistency in the definition of label states.

A10: Label State Transition
What is the procedure to change the label status for individual variant labels?

The ALAC team agrees with the first recommendation to accept the label state transitions proposed in the Staff Paper as a preliminary recommendation.

On the second recommendation on the non-automatic nature of the transition from “rejected” to “withheld-same-entity”, we note that every state transition happens on the basis of a trigger, and none of them are "automatic". Therefore we are unclear on the need for this recommendation.
