Hi all,

With thanks to everyone for your speedy input, I’m happy to announce that we have final dates to share and helpful information for the in-person/hybrid for the Facilitated dialogue on the topic of Closed Generic gTLDs.

Looking at the responses, the best dates for the in-person/hybrid meeting are 26-27 January 2023 in Washington DC.

We understand that it may not be possible for everyone to attend in person. While it may be impossible to totally replicate an in-person experience, as mentioned previously we will do our best to ensure that everyone can participate as equitably as possible. We anticipate two full day sessions from approximately 12:30/13:00 UTC – 21:00 UTC (8:30/09:00 am – 5:00 pm/ DC time). We expect it is likely that the group will tackle questions together, sometimes in small groups, sometimes in the large group. At points, participants will be asked to put forth ideas, while at other times, all will be asked to work toward solutions. Virtual participation will be as robust and inclusive as Zoom technology allows.

Next steps:

Closer to the meeting date, dialogue participants will be sent additional emails to book travel from the ICANN org meetings team. Funded Travelers will receive the following accommodations paid for by ICANN: , air (economy flight), hotel , and stipend. You can deny or accept any or all of these items listed. For air, this must be booked using either via our online booking platform (Concur) or official travel agency (FCM). ICANN org does not allow self-booking. ICANN Travel will send step by step instructions about how and what to do.

Here is a short video: https://schedule.icann.org/bookingintro which may be helpful and explains the basics. Again, ICANN Travel will send emails each step of the way about what is needed from you.

Once your event registration, banking information and air travel are booked, additional emails will be sent to you from ICANN Travel. Hotels will be booked by ICANN and provided to you, typically about a week before the trip.

Funded Travelers’ arrival dates are day before a meeting and departure dates are day after a meeting. EX: Meeting is 26-27 January, you will be funded to arrive on 25 January and depart on 28 January.
