[Gnso-igo-ingo-crp] Confirming WG Co-Chairs

Hello Paul and everyone,

Just to clarify the GNSO¹s Working Group Guidelines do not actually
require a formal process of nomination, seconding and/or voting for a WG
chair (including co-chairs and vice-chairs). Rather, the Guidelines speak to
the WG¹s selecting its own chair(s) - who act as such on a provisional basis
until confirmed by the GNSO Council. A vote is expressly required only if
there are objections to the chair(s) selected.

For most GNSO Working Groups, the practice has been to ask for nominations
(including self-nominations) as this seemed the best way to ensure that
interested candidates will know about the position and can either volunteer
themselves or be nominated by another WG member. In this regard, even though
the Guidelines say a chair is ³normally² selected at the first WG meeting,
it is not mandatory and we have therefore in many cases (including for this
WG) informed the WG about the position and process during the first meeting,
followed by a reminder/call for nominations on the WG mailing list for a
specified period.

I hope this is helpful. As noted in my previous email, if anyone objects to
either Petter or Phil as a co-chair, please make it known as soon as
possible.

Thanks and cheers
Mary
