Hi folks,

The United Nations Human Rights Council passed an important resolution
regarding online freedom today:

https://techcrunch.com/2016/07/01/un-agrees-to-adopt-expanded-resolution-on-online-speech-rights/
http://www.africanews.com/2016/07/01/online-rights-must-be-protected-un-condemns-internet-shutdowns/

In particular, they affirmed that "the same rights that people have
offline must also be protected online."

This informs our working group, given that in the offline world,
disputes regarding IGO identifiers would be handled by national courts
-- as per Article 8 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

So, the suggestion that IGOs "require" us to "do something different",
because "this is the internet, and the internet is different" is not
consistent with the resolution that was just passed.

Sincerely,
